"...For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh? So they are no longer two, but one flesh.
Therefore, what God has joined together, man must not separate.” - Matthew 19:3-6
The Cathedral of St. Joseph is a special place to be married and every Vermont Catholic is welcome to have their wedding here.
A Christian marriage is a sacrament, and the Catholic Church wants you to be prepared for your life as a couple. The parish through the dioceses in Vermont offer marriage preparation to help couples grow in a better understanding of the sacrament of marriage to evaluate and deepen their faith and commitment to live married life and to grow as individuals and as a couple.
Marriage preparation programs are available in different settings. Some couples attend a weekend retreat while others work with a sponsor couple. There are also a series of marriage preparation classes offered by parishes within the diocese. It is important for engaged couples to keep in mind as they do their wedding planning to remember that "Your wedding lasts a day, but your marriage lasts a lifetime."
Couples are asked to contact the Office six to nine months before an anticipated wedding. (802) 658-4333
